La psicologia de l'anti-fan

El doctor David Hassan, de la Universitat de l'Úlster, explica les preferències dels nord-irlandesos pel que fa a la Copa del Món de futbol:

The majority of people like to see England lose - and ideally on penalties or as the result of some obvious injustice.

The majority of the nationalist and republican population clearly want to see the English defeated, though perhaps not until the latter rounds of the tournament, and supporters of the NI team have a footballing rivalry with the English, which means they would be pleased to see England beaten too - albeit for different reasons.

La psicologia de l'anti-fan és més complexa del que hom podria pensar d'entrada. Els nord-irlandesos anti-Anglaterra sembla que valoren més una derrota injusta (que es podria considerar fins i tot, a ulls d'alguns, com una victòria moral) o una derrota per mala sort, que no pas una derrota contundent de l'equip anglès.
